New Jersey MasterChorale Christmas Concert
Illuminare
The NJ MasterChorale presents its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 8, in the HUMC sanctuary. A shortened version of the program for families with young children will be shared at 3pm, including familiar Christmas carols and light classical pieces. This abbreviated program will be stitched together with narration and will include interactive musical activities for all ages.
At 7pm, the full program will be presented accompanied by organist Matt Smith and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and friends. Titled Illuminare (“To illuminate”) the evening performance will feature Elaine Hagenberg’s piece Illuminare. Based on a variety of religious texts about light, this work has quickly become one of the most performed choral selections in the United States.
Complimenting this work will be selected movements from the Weihnachtsoratorium (Christmas Oratorio) by Baroque composer Carl Heinrich Graun. This work also centers on the theme of light using Biblical texts, chorale texts, and freely composed verse. Solo movements will be sung by soloists from Westminster Choir College and the Academy of Vocal Arts. Rounding out the program is a set of traditional carols arranged by Alice Parker & Robert Shaw, followed by “Joy to the World,” arranged for strings, trumpets, and organ by John Rutter.

Christmas Mission Projects
Operation Bear Hug
Through Christmas Eve
Christmas is a time of wonder and awe, usually surrounded by family and friends. But for those who are hospitalized, it can be lonely and painful. Donate new teddy bears (8-12 inches) to bring hope and love to those facing challenges or help with deliveries to local hospitals on Tuesday, December 24.
Advent at Haddonfield UMC
Sermon Series: Noël
Begins Sunday, December 1
Noël: it’s a word we sing, say, and send in Christmas cards, as we prepare for the season. But what does it mean? Originating from French and Latin, Noël means to be born. The miraculous birth of the Christ child happened on the backdrop of despair and a deep longing for God to enter into a hurting world and bring about healing and wholeness.
This Advent, we will explore how God breaks into our world in just the right time, giving us the hope we need. Noël: Engaging The Hurts And Needs Of The World–an Advent series.
