Make an Impact
As we seek to be the church in a hurting world, the following are different ways to make a difference through service and mission in and beyond our community
Cherry Hill Food Pantry Collection
Anytime
The Cherry Hill Food Pantry is an important resource to combat food insecurity in our local community, and we have an ongoing collection of items to stock their shelves. Needs include:
nonperishable food items
stuffing
tuna
bar soap
deodorant
toothpaste
brownie mix
detergent
turkey gravy
Place items in our collection bin located in the breezeway by the church parking lot. You may also support the Cherry Hill Food Pantry through monetary donations made on our website or church app or by mailing a check to the church office with “Cherry Hill Food Pantry” on the memo line. Thank you for your continued support of our Mission Partner!
Operation Bear Hug
Through December 24
Christmas is a time of wonder and awe, usually surrounded by family and friends. But for those who are hospitalized, it can be lonely and painful. Donate new teddy bears (8-12 inches) to bring hope and love to those facing challenges or help with deliveries to local hospitals on Tuesday, December 24.
Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Of Service
Monday, January 20, 2025
Join us on Monday, January 20, for a meaningful Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service, honoring Dr. King’s legacy through community action.
Arrive at 8:30am for check-in and reflection before serving from 9am-12pm at one of three impactful community sites. Return to the church at 12:30pm for lunch and a short film celebrating Dr. King’s life and legacy. Choose from the following opportunities:
Simple Homes (manual labor)
Refugee Family (deep cleaning basement)
Neighborhood Collaborative Community Gardens (environmental/gardening)
Register today to reserve your spot with the project that speaks to your heart. Bring a friend, your family, or your small group—all ages and skill levels are welcome!
Dominican Republic School Supply Collection
January 13-27, 2025
HUMC’s 2025 Dominican Republic Mission will again visit the school on the mountain, where families live without water or electricity, and have meager food and little money for school supplies.
Help the children by donating any of the following:
unsharpened #2 pencils
cap erasers or wedge erasers
pencil sharpeners
crayons or markers
individually wrapped toothbrushes
small toothpastes (3 oz. or less)
antibiotic bandages
Place your gifts in the basket in the Welcome Center from January 13 to January 27.
Cherry Hill Food Pantry Volunteers
Ongoing
Beginning October 15, clients who receive food assistance from the Cherry Hill Food Pantry will once again be able to shop for their own groceries rather than receive prepackaged bags. After a 5-year break from this model, during which time a new location was purchased, renovated, and a parking lot installed, they are now ready to return to have their clients shop. This provides greater dignity to those who come to the pantry in need. This change will require many more volunteers than the previous drive-through method for receiving assistance. Volunteers in the past have found this to be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience and the clients enjoy forming personal relationships.
Support UMCOR General Fund
Anytime
Support the work of The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the humanitarian relief and development arm of Global Ministries. UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – famine, hurricane, war, flood, fire or other events—to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR provides relief, response and long-term recovery grants when events overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on their own. UMCOR also provides technical support and training for partners to address emerging and ongoing issues related to disaster relief, recovery, and long-term health and development.
